“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
I love the idea of being followed by goodness and mercy. It is the epitome of God’s grace and character to just continue to pour out blessings when we don’t deserve it. When we mess up here on earth, more than likely, we will end up going to a court and going before a judge who will hear both sides of the story and then cast his’ judgment upon us. God’s mercy is like a police officer who pulls you over for speeding. He walks up to the window, “License and registration.” He then goes back to his’ squad car and comes back a few moments later carrying something in his’ hands. He then kindly asks you if you know why you got pulled over. You shamefully answer honestly, and then he says, “I am going to let it slide this time; I also want to give you this fresh box of donuts.” Likewise, God not only forgives your trespasses, but also blesses you with something that we are completely undeserving of. God’s mercy is never ending it renews daily.
In applying this I am going to thank God for His’ renewed mercies that He showers us with every morning before I do anything else.
