Acts 2:45

October 6, 2011

“and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.”

It’s weird how this can be the most communistic verse that is in the Bible or one of the gnarliest acts of selflessness.  I thought my world was crumbling around me when I first read this verse of communistic practices in the Bible.  I then sat there on my bed in deep thought about this verse and realized it was a great act of selflessness and love, and not the first movement toward a communist regime.  This act was fueled by a love for the brethren in Christ, not for selfish gain.  It’s not the idea that determines whether the act is a good or bad one but rather the motives behind the act.  It was love and Christianity and what we are called to do for one another; not communism.
In applying this I will give a more conscience attempt to assist those in need so that I might better show God’s love to all.
