“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
A shepherd is an individual who cares and tends to sheep. If a sheep strays from the flock the shepherd will leave the rest of the flock to find that on sheep. The shepherd does everything for the sheep, leads them to watering holes to drinks and lush green pastures for them to graze. We know sheep are very dumb animals; almost comparable to lemmings, how appropriate then that we are referred to as sheep and Jesus is our shepherd; bringing us back when we stray away and leading us to great opportunities to further the kingdom. We are very much like sheep, we follow what the others do, and we don’t even follow from a big enough distance to see if there are consequences to the actions. We just go.
In applying this to my life I will continue to seek the Lord’s will for my life and not just “follow the crowd”.
